Set a daily reminder for a Forgive, Let It Now Go! moment on your mobile device. (If you have our app, you can do it directly from there and get a beautiful sound of a crystal bowl being struck as your reminder tone). Let’s say you schedule it at 11:55 am. (This may be a nice time of day to do it). When your reminder goes off, begin to reflect on your morning and forgive the things that were said or any negative thoughts you want to let go, your co-workers, your family, your boss, your friends or your entire situation. Take about 3-5 minutes. Then, pre-forgive anything you anticipate that may be coming your way in the afternoon and evening. Setting a time will condition you that you can have a Forgiveness Let It Go Now! moment (FLING) anyplace and anywhere!
Here is what happened to me the very first time I did this exercise. The notification went off while I was driving, so I reflected on the morning. I felt that I was a little too judgy on the phone with a good friend of mine who called and I thought I needed to forgive this thought and feeling, and just as I thought the thought…….my same friend, who I had talked to on the phone, pulled up right along side of me, rolled her window down and said, “Hi!!!! Thank you so much for listening to me this morning. You look great and I hope you have a great day. You are a great friend!!!” She was turning left and I was turning right. I smiled from the inside out and shouted, “Thanks! You have a great day too. Talk to you soon!!!”
I spent the next couple of miles feeling validated for this exercise and very thankful for what just happened. I then did the second part of the FLING appointment, anticipating a great afternoon……. And low and behold, I have to say I had a wonderful afternoon with my best friend and her mother, really joyous even. We went on an important shopping day and found long needed items at the mall and all had a wonderful, productive day together!!
